Tovar in Tinsletown

ANAHEIM, CA - Rockies are on a 5 game slide heading into game 2 of the 3 game series with the Angels. The Rockies are 3-7 in the last 10. In those 10 games there has been a bright spot for the Rockies and even more so in the 3 wins they collected, yep you guessed it, Ezequiel Tovar.

Tovar in the last 10 games is batting a sizzling .435 (17-39) with 3 homers, 3 doubles, 8 RBIs and himself crossing the plate 10 times. In the 3 wins the Rockies have in the last 10 Tovar shined! in the 20-7 dismantling of the Red Sox last Wednesday, Tovar went 3-6, HR, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs. The other two wins, Tovar's bat was a big reason for them, against Boston on JUL 22nd, Tovar went 3-7, with the game winning RBI in the 12th.

Tovar didn't particularly start July well going 0-28 in the first week of the month. Since that slump Tovar has had an offensive explosion batting .434 (30-69) and actually contributing for the team bringing in 17 RBIs!!! Tovar's complete 180 after the slow start to July resulted in a spot on the All-Star Reserves and has bottled that magic.

Tonight Tovar looks to close out July on a high note and help the Blake St 'Bummers' snap their 5 game skid. He faces a thin rotation arm tonight in the Angels' Davis Daniel. Daniel has only seen the bump 3 times this season pitching 17 innings with a 5.82 ERA. His last outing, Daniel gave up 7 ER on 8 hits in 3.2 IP against [at the time] a struggling Rangers squad who found their way when Daniel was serving up the baseball. While Tovar, let alone any Rockie, hasn't seen Daniel, Tovar has been going against some good arms, the likes of Manea (NYM), Quintana (NYM), Webb (SF), Houck (BOS) during this recent onslaught. So the confidence is there for Tovar to hit whoever is on the mound. There isn't much data on Davis Daniel but he loves to throw strikes and ironically has one of the lost Whiff% on his team (which is hard to do with some of the Staff on that Angels' rotation) at 20.2%. This bodes well for Tovar, who loves to swing the bat!

Tovar is +100 on BetMGM to go over 1.5 H+R+RBI. This is very simple, Tovar has gone over 1.5 H+R+RBI 13 out of the 16 games played since the aforementioned 0-28 slump. I don't think there is a Tovar bet we wouldn't take the over in tonight.
