PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Yankees opened a three game series with the Phillies on Monday night and it was a longball affair.
The Yankees' newly acquired piece, Jazz Chisholm Jr. started at third base for first time in his Big League career; and not only did he hit his first to home runs for the new Bronx Bombers, he made it look like he's played third base his entire career. Chisholm started a 5-4-3 double play in the bottom of the 1st inning on a ground ball from Trae Turner. As does often happen, a good play in the field leads to a good plate appearance, Chisholm came to the dish in the top of the second with one out and took NL Cy Young hopeful, Zach Wheeler, yard for his first home run as a Yankee. Chisholm also went yard in the top of 9th to cap a 14 run night for Pinstripes and the 6th Yankee home run of the night.

On any other team, Chisholm's performance would lead any recap story but, this is the Yankees... and Aaron Judge still swings a bat for them. Judge took Wheeler deep for a solo home run (38) in the top of the 1st on1-0, 2 out sweeper starting the longball locomotive for the Yanks. He also went yard for a 2-run shot in the 7th to again extend the Yankee lead to 9-3. The Yankees would later tack on 5 more and beat the Phillies 14-4 to capture their first 3-game winning streak since June. Are the Yankees starting to heat back up and take the division back from the Orioles? After this set with the Phillies the Yankees start a 9 game home stand against Blue Jays, Angels and defending World Series Champs [Rangers]. The combined winning percentage of those 3 teams is .462...the Yankees look to prey on some struggling competition and retake the AL East.
We're going to continue to watch Judge, Chisholm, Soto, and so on and so on and so on.... to see if their bats remain hot... We're still standing pat on certain markets for these players so watch our Insta for any plays on these guys!
